Chocolate brownie

When I made these chocolate brownies, the accolades never stopped pouring in. Since then, I have been making my own brownies quite regularly than usual. this brownie recipe is one you wouldn’t forget in a hurry. it’s crisp on the outer top layer with bits of chocolate chunks and fudgy within. 

A chocolate brownie is a rich, dense chocolate brownie treat cut into a square or rectangular shape. Depending on the density, it could be either cakey or fudgy. It’s typically eaten by hand just like you eat biscuits and can be accompanied with your favourite beverage. Without further ado, here’s how to make this tasty snack. 

What’s the difference between a cake and a brownie?

The difference between a chocolate cake and chocolate brownie is the amount and proportions of sugar, butter and flour added. Also, brownies don’t need leavening agents tike baking powder or soda. 

Do you need a leavening agent in making brownies? 

To make chocolate brownies, you don’t need baking soda or baking powder. Leavening agents would make it rise and turn it into a cake but the texture of a real brownie is moist and fudgy. 

What Ingredients do you need for homemade chocolate brownies? 

 For brownies, you’ll need very good Butter, Cooking oil ( either vegetable/coconut)

A combination of brown sugar and white sugar to get the glossy top and much more. View the full list below. 

Preparation:::

Step 1: Roughly chop the chocolate into large chunks and set aside. 

Step 2: Place the butter in a bowl and heat up in a microwave or over the stovetop to melt. Set this aside.

Directions:::

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 F then line the baking pan with parchment paper and set aside. 

Step 2: Crack the eggs into a medium-sized bowl and whisk till pale and fluffy. Pour in the melted butter, oil, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix till everything is evenly combined. 

Step 3: Sift the flour and cocoa powder into the wet mixture and mix till you get a smooth batter but don’t over mix. Pour half of the chocolate chunks into the batter and fold in.  

Step 4: Pour the batter into the tin lined with parchment paper and smoothen the top. Then, sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips over the top. 

Step 5: Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is set once touched. 

Step 6: Remove from the oven and leave to cool before removing from the baking tray and slicing into 12 or 16 Brownies.  Enjoy!

How to store Brownies

You can store these brownies in a dry place at room temperature for 3 days or simply freeze.

  • 4 medium-sized eggs
  • 2 tablespoons flavour essence (Vanilla/ Butterscotch)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
