I love plantain and it’s definitely on the list of “favorite foods” for many. This is why it’s not unusual to get carried away with fried plantain day in day out as that’s the most popular way to enjoy ripe plantains but have you tried boiling instead? To be frank, boiled plantain is definitely a healthier option than frying. According to research, one cup of raw plantain contains 181 calories, while 1 cup of fried plantains contains 365 calories. If you are worried about the number of calories, you should try boiling, baking or steaming instead. Boiled plantain is really easy to make and can be enjoyed with just about any type of stew or sauce.
