Easy Cinnamon Rolls

There is nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls with a generous amount of butter early in the morning. I must tell you, the aroma is out of this world. Sometimes, it takes a whole lot of grace not to finish the whole batch once it comes out of the oven. This weekend i decided to make cinnamon rolls since i had lots of cinnamon waiting to be used up. It’s been quite a while since i made this and i must definitely add, it’s worth every bite especially if you’re patient enough to wait for it to rise. At the end of the day, cinnamon is one of the tastiest and healthiest spices on the planet. As usual, it’s pretty easy to make as shown below.

• Yield:           15 cinnamon rolls
• Category:     Home Baking

Ingredients:::

• 4 tsp. Yeast
• 5 Cups Flour + Extra for dusting
• 2 Cups Milk
• 1/4 Cup Butter
• 1/4 Cup Sugar

• 1 tbsp. Salt

• 1 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
• 1 Egg
• 1 tbsp.Vegetable oil
Filling:::
• 1 cup Brown Sugar
• 2 tbsp. Cinnamon powder
• 3 tbsp. Butter
For Dusting:::
• Confectioners sugar

Preparation:::
Step 1: In a small bowl, pour 1 cup warm water. Add the sugar and yeast then leave to sit in a warm room for about 10 minutes. If it starts to froth and double in size, the yeast is alive, kicking and ready to be used for this recipe.
Step 2: Pour the milk into your mixing bowl, add the egg, flavor and mix. Pour the yeast into the mixing bowl. Combine the salt and the flour together then add into the mixing bowl one cup at a time till it’s well incorporated. Mix thoroughly for about 5 minutes till you get a stiff dough.
Step 3: Transfer the dough onto floured working surface and knead with your hands for about 5 minutes. Oil the mixing bowl and place the kneaded dough into it, then cover and leave to sit in a warm place for about 30 minutes. During this period, it’d rise and double in size.
Step 4: Flour your work surface once more and transfer the dough onto the surface. With a rolling pin, roll out the dough. Butter the top of the rolled out dough, Mix the cinnamon and brown sugar together then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
Step 5: From the edge, roll the dough into a cylinder and seal the edges with water. With a sharp knife, slice the dough into 15 equal parts and place on a greased baking tray. Leave the rolls on the baking tray to rise and double in size for about 40 minutes.
Step 6: Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes or until slightly browned. Leave to cool before sprinkling the confectioners sugar over it.
