Igba-Nkwu Nwannyi “Wine carrying Ceremony” is the Traditional marriage ceremony and climax of Marriage in Igbo Culture. It’s usually held in the home of the bride. On the Wedding day, the bride’s father gives the bride a cup of wine to go look for her husband and feed him the wine while on her knees. This segment is called the “Wine Carrying”. Thereafter, She is officially handed over to her husband after the final blessing has been given. The little dancers and Asoebi’s (Unmarried Colleagues) accompany the bride almost throughout the occasion….Kinda like Bridesmaids.
