Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized Tatashe
  • 10 medium-sized Chili pepper
  • 10 medium-sized Scotch bonnets Blend roughly
  • 1 medium-sized Titus (Mackerel Fish) Debone & Gut - Rinse and set aside
  • 1 small Onion 
  • 5 large Tomatoes Dice
  • 1 cup Cooking Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. Curry powder 
  • 1 tsp. Thyme
  • 2 Seasoning Cubes   

Instructions

  • Step 1: Remove the seeds from the Tatashe and rinse. Place the Tatashe, Chili pepper, and Scotch bonnet in a chopper and chop roughly
  • Step 2: Debone and gut the Titus (Mackerel Fish). Rinse and set aside
  • Step 3: Slice the onions, Dice the Tomatoes - set this aside. 
  • Step 4: In an empty pan, pour in the cooking oil and leave to heat up for 3 minutes. Add the sliced onions and stir fry for 3 minutes. Add the pepper and stir fry for 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes and stir fry for 5 minutes. Add the salt, curry powder, crushed seasoning, and thyme.
  • Step 5: Stir fry for 5 minutes before finally adding the shredded smoked fish. Stir and leave to simmer on low heat for 3 minutes and your shredded mackerel stew is ready. Serve with rice, beans, potato, yam e.t.c. I served mine with Yamarita
