Whoever invented corn bread is a total genius i tell you. Yesterday, I was searching for something new and totally different in taste from the various breads when I stumbled on this recipe. It could be quite difficult deciding what to have for breakfast so this definitely came in handy. Corn bread is a type of bread made with cornmeal and a mixture of other ingredients. Unlike the normal bread you’re used to, it’s a little bit more like crumbly cake. The taste is simply out of this world and the aroma it leaves the house with is better experienced than explained.
One of my new year resolutions is to do more baking tutorials as most of you have been requesting for so you’d definitely be seeing more of that this year especially since the first birthday celebration in the fam is coming up pretty soon. I love parties and i definitely can’t wait :D. Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how to make cornbread with or without an oven

Lest I forget, how many grams s a cup of the cornflour?
Definitely going to try this but please what do you mean by corn flour? Just ground corn or what and where can one get it? And in mixing the milk, what s the ratio of water to the milk. Finally, like someone asked, can margarine be used in place of butter?

Dobby whr have u bin all my life?.nice work girl.
Thanks Chioma :), Yes you can use margarine but it won't taste the same. The cornbread made with butter is totally different from that made with margarine in taste.
Hi Destiny, You can get corn meal by grinding dry yellow/white corn till smooth but it won't be as fine as wheat flour (The type used for baking bread also known as "all purpose flour")
Yes you can use that. Just dilute with a little water and you're good to go
Do keep us posted angie 😉
Hi jenny, To get corn meal, simply grind dry corn till fine. The powdered milk to water ratio to use is:1/3 cup dry instant cow's milk powder per 1 cup of water. Yes you can use margarine in place of butter but the taste would be totally different.
1 cup cornmeal equals 130grams
Thanks michie 🙂

This is lovely!! What other meals can be prepared with cornmeal. Is cornmeal same as cornflour? I have used cornflour in thickening a sauce. Keep up the good work Dobs!
Hi Zeezee, Do you mean Cornmeal and cornstarch? Cornmeal is dry whole corn which has been ground (Yellow in colour if you use yellow corn). Cornstarch is which in colour (like starch) and used as a thickener.
I baked this today and my son told me he couldn't believe corn meal could taste so good when baked. Thank you Dobby, I am learning alot from you.
Thanks for the feedback Anon 🙂
Am confused, is it just the butter dats done on the stove top or the entire recipe is done on the stove top.
Am confused, so the mixing of the ingredient is done on the stove top or just the melting of the butter thats done on the stove top.
Hi Unknown, just the melting of the butter
