Back in the day when i was probably 9 or 10, I usually made sure my dad bought a particular Nigerian daily newspaper with a Weekend column for Nigerian recipes.
He had his preference, usually one which contained more of News, politics & sports while i had mine (i preferred more of True life stories, fashion & style and of course Food Recipes). Whenever the vendor came around, he never failed to bring these newspapers…his & mine. Once i got into my room with my newspaper, I’d cut out the recipes from the middle part and paste in a book i had made specially for that purpose with paper gum and i called it my African recipe book. I tried out most of the recipes and during the course of my experimentation with my “African Recipe Book” i never knew i was preparing myself for a future hobby and artistic pursuit in food writing.
To think several years later my recipes would be featured in National newspapers is something i never fathomed and i’m very excited about this opportunity. It’s also heartwarming to think that a young girl out there might probably be doing the exact same thing i did several years ago 😀 😀 :D. Enough of the long talk! hope you all had a wonderful weekend like i did. i just want to let you all know that you can now keep updated with Dobbyssignature recipes on Leadership newspaper, one of Nigeria’s leading Newspapers.
