Pizza is fast becoming a rave here in Nigeria with pizza shops opening up here and there. Although it doesn’t come cheap, it’s definitely worth every penny. Well, you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy this tasty snack at home. On first thought, I wanted to make this post about pepperoni pizza but on getting to the supermarket where pepperoni sausages are sold I noticed they had run out of pepperoni so I went for the next available option known as chicken franks. Don’t get me wrong, these are not the only available options to use as topping for your pizza. You can, in fact, use lightly cooked minced meat, chicken, Chopped onions, Green peppers, any Sausage, Bacon, Olives, Ham, sweet corn, Pineapple, Mushrooms, Basil, Barbecue chicken or Just plain cheese i.e Mozzarella, parmesan, goat cheese, cheddar or a combination). Weird, but the pizza made with just plain cheese is actually my favourite and it goes by the name Margarita. Once you’re done making your pizza dough as shown in the previous post, making pizza from scratch gets pretty easy. Here’s How to make pizza from scratch (with or without an oven)

Ingredients
- • 500g Homemade Pizza Dough
- • 1 cup Pizza sauce (I used Tomapep Puree)
- • 3 small Chicken frank sausages
- • 1 medium-sized Green pepper
- • 1 cup Sweet corn
- • 1 cup Cornmeal
- • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
Instructions
Step 1: The first step is to get your pizza sauce ready. Pizza sauce is simply a combination tomato paste, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, sugar. For this pizza, I used tomapep puree which is a mixture of tomato, red scotch bonnet pepper, garlic and onion. Once pureed into a fine paste, it was boiled till all the liquid evaporated, seasoned with salt and fried with vegetable oil.
Step 2: Chop the sausages and green pepper into thin slices and set aside
Step 3: Flour the smooth working surface with cornflour and flatten the dough with your hand till you get a thin disc. Place the disc on a baking sheet or pan
Step 4: Cover the top of the flattened dough with the tomato paste, sausage, sweet corn, green pepper and cheese. If you are using soft cheese, make sure you break or grate the cheese into smaller pieces to enable it to melt easily. if you're using hard cheese, use a grater.
Step 5: Bake in a preheated oven at about 550°F or Higher for about 10-15 minutes till the Crust is browned and the cheese melts on top. When using a pot or oven, make sure it's very hot before putting in your pizza to bake.
Slice and serve.

hey dobby,im a student and i have to prepare for waec catering practicals.where can i get the mozarella cheese? also, can i make pot roast using the pot method and it llstill com out perfect?
Nice post dobby! Getting mozerella cheese where I stay is a problem. Would have tried dis out.
If you have heavy duty flat pot lid with no middle handle you can use that as well to bake in oven pizza slides out easier on a flat surface especially useful for newbie pizza makers who may not have a pizza tray
That's really nice..
Will try but don't know if mine will taste better than my favorite pizza shop, Debonairs.
Beautiful! Thanks dobby, this is recipe one for festive week, thank you so much!
you're welcome jennifer.

you're welcome fairest mum. Do let us know how it turns out
You can get mozerella cheese in any large supermarket. Yes you can use the pot method for pot roast but if that's the meal you want to make for your practical, i'd advise you pick a different meal. Preparing pot roast takes a very long time and as a former invigilator, time is a luxury you can't afford in waec food & nutrition examination.
you're welcome tokoni
you're welcome Oyin, do reserve my share 😉
it's always worth the try angie 🙂
pls dobby,i cant get cheese where i stay. can i use wara instead. thanks
lol! wara is cheese.
You can try making your own cheese, it's quite easy.
If you don't get the mozzarella cheese, you can try making cheese yourself. The last time I made pizza, I made my cheese myself. All you need do is mix some powdered milk in water and boil then pour some youghurt in the boiling milk. Add some lemon to it and boil for 15 – 20 mins. NB: the lemon aids coagulation. Then remove from heat and let it cool. Seive to remove water and retrieve cheese!
This is a great idea Anon…thanks.
I Just Love The Pictures tho…I'm definitely going to try mine at home.
This looks nice and yummy, great work dobby 😘
Thank you cynthia 🙂

Can I use baking pan(d type used to bake cake)to make pizza?
Hello dobby,I went through ur website to learn how to make a pizza, its quit very clear. My question is this, pls can cake it with my normal cake baking pan and oven baking tray? And pls do I need to grease the pan or tray. Thank you
yes you can use an oven tray to make it or if you've got an old pot cover, that'd work beautifully as a pizza tray. Just dust the tray with corn flour.
yes you can but you'd need something that is not too deep or if you've got an old pot cover, that'd work beautifully as a pizza tray. Just dust the tray with corn flour.
When you say 3 cups (what kind of cup do you mean?) And must corn flour be used.
The standard measuring cup. Corn flour isn't compulsary but necessary.
When you say 3 cups ( what kind of cup) do you mean?
Wow. Thanks dobby would try it
Do let us know how it goes k.
This is great, would try it during the break.
Dobby, when u say corn flour is necessary, do u mean that the pizza won't come out fine? Or does the corn flour do a special work?
Sorry,pls how do you mean?
Hi Nonso, The pizza would come out fine without it. But when it's included, it gives it a very nice flavor and texture.
Dobby dobby…. Ur recipes are perfect! Love this pls keep it up, My best teacher. Surely gonna try this. Thumb up
