My first reaction when i saw strawberries at the local market was that of shock and at the same time excitement. This is because, Fresh strawberries are mostly seen as exotic fruits which can only be found pre-packaged in large supermarkets where i stay. I immediately bought as much as i could so wouldn’t miss the opportunity to do a strawberry recipe post especially since valentine is around the corner. Strawberries are rich in Health promoting Antioxidants, Vitamins & minerals, Phyto-nutrients. This is a lovely drink to make for valentine plus, it’s really delicious and easy to prepare.

For a healthier version you can omit the sugar and if you have no honey use half a banana instead it will give the much needed sweetness.

I'm glad you found the post useful Anon 🙂
@Anon 19:10: I do get mine from Agboju market in festac town (The fruit section). They seem to have most berries there now such as raspberries, blueberries e.t.c.
@Rosemary: Really!!! that's definitely good news. Would check it out this week. Thank you too Rosemary 🙂
you could get strawberries from Shoprite and Agboju market. Rosemary also said she saw strawberries at Balogun market.
Hi Anon,
i haven't done a post on yogurt yet but will do that soon. If you are not using pure cow milk like it's done in the north (Milked directly from the cow (Called nunu and taken with fura) and not processed milk) which has live lacto bacteria needed to aid in fermentation you'd need a starter culture (usually done in a lab) to make yogurt which is difficult to find. To make it easier, just get an already made yogurt with live culture to serve as the starter culture and any processed milk. i copied the recipe by blog troll below>>>>>

i used to make yoghurt back in the day. you'll need Milk and ready made yoghurt with active culture within e.g farmfresh is a good example and this would be your starter culture. Boil the milk and leave to cool (it should be warm when you touch). Add tablespoons of the ready made yoghurt and mix well sweeten with sugar to feed the bacteria. cover and leave so it'd set for 5-6 hours. Once it has set freeze it otherwise it would turn sour. For the subsequent batches, you would start using your own yoghurt as the starter culture.

You're welcome nenyemena. Currently, i don't know of any but if i do find i'd let you know on the blog
good afternoon do we have starter/live culture in Nigeria? have been trying to do my yogurt at home but i dont know where to get the starter. kindly please help me out. thanks
It's quite difficult to come by ash. Here's what you could do. Buy a very good yogurt product from any large store near you. The good products are usually "Thick". Those type have live culture within them. You could use that as your starter, it'd multiply. Hope this helps.
