Homemade grilled fish is probably one of my all time favorite things to make. This is because it’s really tasty, easy to make and O yes! i get to save a whole lot of money doing it myself. Grilling is a healthy way of cooking fish. To retain the nutrients & flavor in the fish, it’s best to grill it in a foil packet. All you have to do is to wrap it with an aluminium foil and cook on the grill.
This method combines the freshness of steaming with the intense flavor that grilling method gives. Fish is low in fat and calories, yet provides a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Chances are, people who eat fish tend to have a healthier heart than those who eat meat especially red meat. For this recipe, i used croaker fish but you can use any fish you choose to. Also, some of the spices used are optional so you can play with any spice you have available according to your taste.
P.S: Remember, the heat/ fire from most grills including the conventional ones come from the top of the oven and not below.
• Prep time: 30mins -1hr
• Cook Time: 10-14 mins
• Makes: 1 grilled fish
Step 2: Mix all the ingredients including the vegetable oil together in a small bowl. Place the fish on a foil paper and brush the mixed ingredients all over the fish. Once you’re done coating the fish with the ingredients, cover and leave the fish to marinate in the refrigerator for 30mins – 1hr.
Step 3: Place the fish in a preheated grill. Grill for about 5-7 mins on each side till it flakes a little when touched. If you want a moist fish, it’s best to leave the foil closed before placing the fish in the pre-heated grill. That way the fish would retain most of the moisture and nutrients. Serve Hot!

Yes you can Anon.
Hi, what is a preheated grill? I did not understand that part. How did you cook it? Did you use oven, or dipped the fish in heated oil? Please use lame English, i am a lame lady who got lost after brushing the fish with the ingredients. Thanks.
hi ebony,
I used an oven that has a different section for grilling. If you are using a conventional mini oven (The small electric type that has microwave & grill), turn on the grill button and leave to heat up with nothing inside for some minutes. The fire from the grill (Electric & Gas Oven) usually comes from the top no matter the type of oven being used. To cook the fish after brushing with the oil and spices, place the fish in the grill (pre-heated grill) which should be hot by now and leave to cook as shown above.
Hi Dobby,
Do I wrap the fish with a paper foil before placing in the grill or the does the fish go in the grill on a tray?
Hi Dobby,
Do I wrap the fish with a paper foil before placing in the grill or the does the fish go in the grill on a tray?
Hi Vivian, for the fish to remain moist instead of drying up it's best to wrap it in a foil before putting it in the oven grill.
Keep the good work up Dobby
Aww am glad to find this page. Keep d good work up
Glad to have you here phyllis

Hi Dobby,
Pls do you cook this on a pan grill/grid pan or in an oven?
If one had to cook with a grid pan, would one need to place the wrapped-up-in-foil fish on the grid/pan/grillpan/oven?
Thank you.
When cooking with a pan grill, the fish would have to be cut up and cooked without the foil paper
