“Aunty dobby is my sugar Peeneenee”…….Those were the words of my little 2 year old cousin as he nibbled on these chocolate chip cookies. It sure did melt my heart and when I reminisce sometimes I laugh out loud *Blushing*. These easy Chocolate chip cookies are a sure delight for both old and young. At first, I planned on using real chocolate chips for this recipe but after walking around all the supermarkets and malls known to me (I waka tire no be small) I finally came to a conclusion that choc chips weren’t sold in Nigeria. The closest substitutes to use for me were M&Ms or whole chocolates (cut into small chips) and with M&Ms, they turned out Colorful, beautiful and Yummy :D.

Thanks Anon!
Hello Dobby,
I was going through your blog and I saw the post where you shared the recipe for chocolate chip cookies and you said you had to use M&M cos you couldn't find chocolate chips in all the supermarkets you went to.
Well I'm not sure there are any brands that sell just chocolate chips but I know that you can get it in shops where they sell baking ingredients especially for industrial use.
There's a shop at ojota (Chemical market) but unfortunately I don't remember the name of the street (the street is right under the pedestrian bridge, and you make a left turn, the shop is under a grey hospital building at the back). You can get everything you need in the world for baking there.
The name of the shop is payless baker under BTB building at the back, chemical market
Cheers!
Wow!!! This is lovely. Can't wait to star making this for my kid's snacks and am so sure they will love it. And am also guessing. M&M can be substituted with smarties, right?

Hello Dobby.. Am ur secret admirer. Pls what do u mean by conventional microwave? I hav a microwave but I dnt have an oven… I'll like to know. Thanks sooooo much!
it's a microwave that also functions as an oven and a grill
Also Dobby I want to ask, what's the difference in taste and flavour between this recipe and your chewy sugar cookies recipe. The main difference is melting the butter in one and creaming butter and sugar in the other. Please let me know. I can't pick which to bake first.
Meanwhile I used your pot method to bake ( confession: I kept waiting for the pot to catch fire lol. Just could not believe that placing a pot on fire without water would not) it turned out very fine. I'll be baking more often now. Thank you. Forgive a doubting thomasina.
Hi Dobby, will the same 15 minutes be adequate if I were baking with a pot?
Comment overload. Dobby chocolate bits can be used in the absence of chips. Hard chocolates like Cadbury diary. Just make sure is frozen when you fold it into the dough so it won't melt and spread when in the oven.
Hello Holly, it could be depending on the temperature at which the burner is set.
Rainbow cookies has chocolate with sugar coating, chewy sugar cookies has none. Glad the pot method worked out fine :).
Thanks for the contribution Holly 🙂
