Shawarma has got to be the most popular street snack almost everyone enjoys. It’s also pretty easy to make at home. The only hitch you might encounter is finding a good place close to your vicinity where the pita bread (Shawarma bread) could be bought. There are various types of shawarma such as Beef shawarma, Chicken shawarma, Fish shawarma, e.t.c and each shawarma has its own unique taste. Now I’m going to make it really simple. For the Hot press (To seal and Heat up the wrapped shawarma), you could make do with a sandwich Toaster if you’ve got one or simply a frying pan….They both serve the same function only that one heats both ways (Most times leaving Sandwich lines) and the other heats one way leaving no line at all. It’s pretty straight forward 😉
•Prep time: Less than 20 minutes
•Cook time: Less than 30 minutes
•Yield: 10 Shawarma Wraps
Instead of dicing, you could also grind your meat.This is really easy to do if you have a mincer, Grinder/ food processor. It also saves a whole lot of stress and money.
To start, Wash the meat thoroughly with clean water then slice off the elastic muscles with a sharp Knife. Most times the grinder is not able to grind this part of the meat. Dice the meat into smaller chunks and place in the grinder – Grind. To skip this process, simply get minced meat.

Thanks Anon. For shawarma, you can't use pancakes because they don't taste the same. Pita bread is a more contained form of flat bread. The good news is you can make it at home.

All you need is an oven or a frying pan. for the ingredients, you'd need Flour, warm water, yeast & salt. make a pliable dough with these ingredients. leave to rise then divide and roll out into round balls. flatten into thick discs with a rolling pin then place in the oven (You can put several at a time) or frying pan (One at a time)till it puffs up. press it down to deflate it and you've got your shawarma bread.

you can get it from any large supermarket or bakery close to you. i got mine from "YES! Supermarket" in lagos.

In benin you can also get it at phil-hallmark @sapele rd,just before kada fried chicken.They have a branch @sakponba road,opposite UBA bank.
I tried making this using home made pita bread,couldn't get it wia I stay. I used a sandwich toaster and wen I pressed it, all d mayonaize sipped out of d shawarma! Thank God I can try it wiv a frying pan. Thanks dobbie u just saved a "chop chop preggy"

Is cucumber a must
it's necessary to add cucumber but not a must.
Is it necessary to per-boil d vegetables or aw ll it get soft in d sharwama
please do not parboil or cook the vegetables. They'd soften a little once the mayo and ketchup is added and the shawarma is heated up.

Tomilola – I get my flat Lebanese bread from a small store off Falolu street. I can't remember the name of the store, but if you enter Falolu from Akerele, it's the third left turn (I think it's called Remilekun street) and the store is the first building on the road. You might also be able to get in Shoprite on Adeniran Ogunsanya, although I don't remember ever seeing it there. Good luck!

Pita bread can be found everywhere in lagos. check shoprite, ikeja mall,park n shop e.t.c or any large supermarket.
