Hello dearies!
Hope you are having a wonderful May Day Work free day….whoop! Whoop! . I must say, it came at a very convenient time for me because the whole Fam stayed home today to enjoy the meatballs I made early this morning. When I was done with the meat balls, I made a simple tomato sauce to go with it – Everyone enjoyed it. Then the heavy rain……Sweet Jeezzz!!! It made the weather sooooo freaking cool which is a far cry from the harsh naija Sun we’ve been putting up with.
I got the minced meat I used from the Shoprite Shopping Mall (I went to the one at ikeja). They’ve always got fresh and Very affordable goods. I got the pack of minced beef for 599Naira and guess what, they even gave me my 50+50kobo change…..lol!!!.
If you don’t have where to buy minced meat, you could also grind your meat. This is really easy to do if you have a mincer, Grinder/ food processor. It also saves a whole lot of stress and money.
To start, Wash the meat thoroughly with clean water then slice off the elastic muscles with a sharp Knife. Most times the grinder is not able to grind this part of the meat. Dice the meat into smaller chunks and place in the grinder – Grind. To skip this process, simply get minced meat.
Homemade meatballs recipe:
• Prep time: 30 minutes
• Cook time: 5 minutes
• Total time: 35 minutes
• Makes : 25 Meatballs
• Misc.: Serve Hot
8. Serve with any dish or prepare a light tomato sauce to go with it. If you’ve got stew…..Well, That’d do perfectly J.

I love these meatballs. They look yummy.
Yum! I'm actually making meatballs right now… though i add bread crumbs and some chilli to mine.
They sure are eya 🙂
Hmmm!!! That's a serious one. i actually assumed Shoprite had malls in major states in nigeria. i have this friend who prepares minced meat at home without a mincing machine. This he does by dicing it into small bits again and again. That's after tenderizing and soaking it in water for a while. it works like magic but takes alot of time and energy…..Hope this helps :).
Thanks for the compliments on the layout…i'm glad you like it 🙂
Hmmm!!! dats new….Do you have the recipe with step by step pictures? Pls do send to me @ dobbyssignature@gmail.com. I'm sure lots of people would love to know how it's prepared ummi 🙂
Lovely. The meatballs look so moist. Now, I am craving spaghetti with meatballs soaked in tomato sauce. Yum! I just might make this, this weekend. Dobby, how does one preserve leftover meatballs? Is it better to preserve the raw meatballs or does one fry and freeze? Which do you think is better?
I love u dobby (no homo)…. Its d food actually…. But na u dey cook d food na, so I luv both'a ya. *drooling over dis pictures* good job ma
This is so yum!!! love meatballs when it's pure beef, no porks…
When storing meatballs, certain factors have to be taken into consideration such as the container its stored in, temperature and time. Either way(Cooked or raw), Meatballs are made of minced meat so the best method of preservation is by placing them in air tight plastic bags and freezing. That way it could stay for up to 2-3 months.
hahahaha!!!!! Thanks manita :D.
It sure is. I also prefer my meat balls alone.

can meatballs be oven cooked?
can meatballs be oven cooked instead of fried? Trying to explore the healthier alternative
Yes fluffy, Meatballs can be oven-baked. They are usually crispy and go quite well with tomato sauce
Yes they Can.
Hello Dobby; Am a first this visitor to this blog. I have a question; can this same recipe be used to make burgers?
Yes it can Anon! One thing though, For burgers, roll out larger balls and flatten it with a spatula so it would look like a thick disc. Fry in some oil (Don't deep fry else it'd scatter).
The meatball is called Kheema is India the taste and the different style of the recipes are different and yup i liked the recipe from which it is done of a meat. A different recipe with the deep fried minced meat. I loved the recipe and the images.
I'm glad you like it, thank you 🙂
Can I wrap the meat ball in flour?
Haven't tried that before, but this recipe doesn't require flour.
Yum! Just to let you know – you lose NO favor, and it's MUCH healthier, if instead of frying in oil, you fry it in its OWN oils that is already naturally there. Try it and write about it! Good luck!
Would do that and write about it. Thanks for the suggestion Anon!

Can dis meat balls be prepared with cornbeef plssss?
Hi Genny, sure it can be used for meatballs.
In Addition, I took some for my colleague and they were thrilled.
Testimony: My husband is just too selective and I always crack my head to cook for him, yet he just doesn't feel it but I did this yesternite and he was full of admiration. I want to pass the appreciation to you too. Thanks for these good works.
Thanks for the feedback Anon :), glad it turned out fine.
That's so cool! Do send in a pic so i can share with the blog fam k 🙂
LOL
Pls can this meatballs substitute for ground beef used in burgers?
Sure it can.
I used to think 'homemade meatballs' were such an ordeal… now, it is just an easy weeknight dinner.
it sure is simple to make.
wow! very nice food. I like this food. Thanks for sharing this blog. I did a search and found your blog and glowing review. It's been a big help! Thanx!
You're welcome Sandra
Would not be finished with the help of a good grinding machine. Loved the recipe, will be in my supper for this weekend.
My friend is from Nigeria and I think she made these meatballs for me before but they had a boiled egg in them….is there a different recipe for those?
Hi jessica, that's known as scotched egg here in Nigeria. It's different from this.
Do keep us posted jimmy 🙂
Hello Dobby,
This is such a tasty and healthy recipe. Thank you for your nice sharing. The food looked yummy. I liked to eat this types of spicy food to eat.
You're welcome Jason.
Hello Dobby, should the already packed minced meat be washed before cooking? Please respond
It could be washed through a sieve. That way you wouldn't lose anything. But most times the meat is already washed before mincing.
This website was… how do you say it? Relevant!!
Finally I have found something that helped
me. Cheers!
Glad you did.
Do you have any video of that? I'd care to find out more details.
Would create one soon.
Very interesting points you have observed, regards for posting.
Hi Dobby, thanks for the recipe. Could I boil the meat first before grinding? Its cooking already! I hope I've not spoilt my meal…..sad
