Puff puff is a wonderful snack which doesn’t require anything fancy. Its quite similar to the popular Nigerian Buns but more oily and less densely packed. It is also very easy to make and the ingredients can be found almost in every kitchen. The perfect puff puff is usually soft on the outer & inner part. Homemade puff puff is usually a delightful breakfast and with a hot cup of tea it’s sure to make your day ;).

Hi! Would you ever serve puff-puff with a side of something? Perhaps a dip – jam or chocolate? Or is there a particular Nigerian fruit which would go well with them? Also, your photo looks like they have sugar sprinkled on top, is that usual?
Many thanks.
Hi caroline! To be creative, i could serve it with chocolate dip. Jam would also go well with it. its not unusual to serve puff puff with sugar sprinkled over it as i actually love mine with sugar but most people prefer theirs without it.

Yayy!!! Thanks for the feedback lawyergirl 🙂
normal puff puff has no pepper in it though some people (very very few) spice it up by adding chili pepper to the batter before frying.
I followed your recipe and my puff puff came out very nice, the only problem is that my batter doesnt rise and double in size after leaving it for 45min, could it be that am not using enough yeast. thanks
Hi Anon, the problem could be from the type of yeast used. Did u use warm water or cold water?
Hi, is it possible to bake puff puff? maybe on parchement paper?
hi Anon!
No it's not possible to bake puff puff. it needs to be deep fried.
Hi Dobby, am I to cover the bowl containing the yeast for the 10mins, because you did not specify,u just said set aside.

Y did u use eggs in making the puff -puff,this is a first! Pls explain, thank you…
Hi Anon, Using eggs for puff puff is optional though you can do without it. it tends to give it a richer taste. Nutmeg is not used for Puff puff .

Hi Dobby,
I tired puff puff for the first time using this recipe, sadly it came out hard and wasn't as sweet as I expected. What didn't I do?
Thanks
Did you leave it to rise? What type of yeast did you use?
Sweet dobby,i tried d puff. It came out nice and tasty but it was more like a very soft buns.I guess it ws bcus of d addition of d egg or bcus d rising time ws short.I must confess it's a unique recipe, cuz mst recipes call for 1hour to rise. Pls make a post on BUGER BREAD and d spicy meat dat is placed inside d bread,it's different frm d normal bread rolls. The top is usually kind of thick and it has a milky taste. I really like d fact dat you make ds snacks simple to make.tanks alot.
Thanks for the feedback Lindjoy. Would add that to the list of meals to upload.
